Wax guards are one of the most important parts of a hearing aid. Their job is protect your hearing aid from any moisture or wax. It is reccomended to replace wax guards every month to ensure a long life and quality sound. For those who produce more earwax than average, it is best to replace your wax guards every two to three weeks instead.

Domes are the silicon shell covering the hearing aid speaker. Their job is to prevent wax or moisture from getting into each hearing aid. For the best sound quality, be sure to clean each dome from wax and moisture often.

Dehumidifiers and Dryers

Dehumidifiers and Dryers are conditioning systems for all types of hearing instruments including traditional hearing systems as well as cochlear implant equipment, noise maskers, ear monitors, and more. While you sleep, it removes moisture, dries earwax, kills germs, and deodorizes your hearing instruments.

For most users, results can include:

  • Fewer repairs
  • Better sound quality
  • Relief from itchy ears
  • Longer battery life

At Mid America Audiology Group we have two types of Dehumidifiers available for our patients.

Electric Dehumidifier

This type of dehumidifier operates like a microwave, by heating up and extracting moisture from the hearing aids inside.

Jar-Type Dehumidifier
